Qualifications Required

We have a year-round training programme and intensive training for new IFAs and FPs. FA and FP are more sales-oriented, and successful life insurance agents would be suitable candidates.

IFAs handle more data than agents and are expected to do proper needs analysis and present recommendations of solutions and products from an array of companies. Communication skill and numeracy are important. Training is provided in handling the Financial Calculator. Staff specialists provide product comparison and product updates in support of FAs.

Financial Planners (FPs) do more planning and those who are more used to a planned, systematic approach to problem-solving are better able to handle comprehensive financial planning. Accountants, lawyers, engineers and those with management experience are suitable.

It takes a while to become competent in all aspects of financial planning, and FPs should be highly motivated and highly organised people who can take care of clients for the long-term. FPs will be trained to do both specific-need and comprehensive financial planning.
